USL College Library is again in the limelight by conducting Book Talk on leadership with the theme: “Develop Readers, Develop Leaders”. With his leadership, Mr. Onofre “Julay” Unciano, General Collection Librarian, spearheaded such activity that was held at the 3rd floor of the College Library on September 12, 2014 @ 10:30 Am-12:00 noon. The activity aims to: a) encourage the student leaders to read leadership books, b) promote the love for reading among student-leaders, and c) showcase leadership books in the library.
To entice the audience and participants, a simple video presentation was opened showcasing available leadership books in the library followed by the snap-shots of administrators, middle level managers, library staffs and student-leaders holding a banner “I am a Reader, I am a Leader” as a manifestation that they become good leaders because they read good books. Dr. Juliet D. Villanueva, College Library Head warmly welcomed the participants by stressing that librarians do read while Mrs. Venus I. Guyos, Director of Libraries gave her short talk by highlighting the essence of reading. Gracing the event were student-leaders of the USL who participated actively while the booktalker, Mr. Antero Caronan enthusiastically discussed the topic on leadership. He lent himself to audience participation by asking the question “What level of leadership do you belong or are you in now?” as motivation while discussion is going on. He gave the audience a glimpse of the setting, the major conflict with examples and denouement. The Serials Librarian, Ms. Ruby Rose Malupeng and the General Collection Librarian, Mr. Onofre Unciano hosted the activity.
The booktalk activity was indeed very fruitful and meaningful as it gave momentous insights on becoming good readers towards good leadership.
