UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES RECOLLECTION
Helping DepEd With Their Library
On October 27, 2014 at 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M, Dr. Juliet Villanueva, the College Library Head, Michelle Abella, the High School Library Head, Mrs. Arlyn Cristobal, the Elementary Library Head, Mr. Arnold Pacis, the Multimedia Services Coordinator, Mr. Loui Tacata, the Library Database Administrator, Ms. Divina Belango, a Library Support Staff together with the students, Jane Bunagan, BLIS 4, Gladys Requimin, BLIS 4, Dianne Tordillos, BLIS 3, Antonette Malana, BLIS 3 and Bobby Cauilan , BLIS 3 went to the DEPED Library to assist in the organization and beautification of the library. All the books were well – organized. Sayings were posted on the library walls.
Indeed, the 1 –day activity was fruitful and successful. The said activity is a part of the outreach or extension program of the University Libraries.
World Day of Audiovisual Heritage
In line with the celebration of the World Day of Audiovisual Heritage, the USL College Library through the Multimedia Section In-charge, Mr. Aldwin Agustine R. Baligod conducted an activity held at the SSC Activity Area on October 10, 2014at 5:30pm until 7:00pm. The activity aimed to showcase and exhibit the different audiovisual and multimedia collections of the University Libraries, to improve the availability and dissemination of audiovisual & multimediarelated information and to strengthen the awareness of the students on the different multimedia & audiovisual equipment available in the library.
To induce the audience, a startling video presentation was showcased through snapshots of Dr. Emmanuel James Pattaguan,VP-for Academics, Dr. Almacita Abrigo,Director of Laboratories,library staff and students from the different departments saying “Yes! I watch movies” as an indication that they are not just fervent readers of books but also lovers of movies. Hereafter, an Opening Remarks was given by Dr. Juliet D. Villanueva, College Library Head while Mrs. Venus I. Guyos, Director of Libraries, emphasized in her talk that students of the university should expand their horizon regarding their quest for knowledge through watching movies. The Multimedia In-Charge spilled the rationale of the event and his heartfelt gratitude for all those who came to the night affair.
Essential part of the event included the showcasing of a video presentation on the Library’s multimedia collection in different genres.The activity was highlighted by the showing of a documentary film on the aftermath the typhoon Yolanda, an encouragement for the viewers to be proactive in taking care of the environment and in becoming ready for looming disasters. This activity was indeed very evocative and meaningful as it gave significantunderstandings regarding the essence of watching movies.
