Serials Librarian Conducts Read and Share Activity

IMG_20160127_170504Mr. Alfred Iringan, College Serials Librarian spearheaded the conduct of Read and Share on January 27, 2016, 3:00 PM at the 2nd Floor Discussion Room of the College Library. The activity aimed to encourage more students to read print journals and magazines; improve student’s social skills in delivering their thoughts; and promote awareness of the latest Serial subscriptions available for research and leisure reading purposes.

The activity joyously commenced with the articles shared by Mrs. Josephine Taguinod, Assistant Cataloger and Mr. Onofre Unciano, General Collection Librarian. They were followed by twelve (12) students, each eagerly sharing their choicest article.

Elementary Library Features Geronimo Stilton Series

20160127_160814The USL Elementary Library, with its aim to encourage more young Louisians to be familiar with book series, conducted a Quiz Bee featuring the Geronimo Stilton Book Series on January 27, 2015 at the Elementary Audio Visual Room. The quiz focused on the adventures of the main character named Geronimo including his mouse-friends. The activity was facilitated by Ms. Mary Angelique H. Baylon. The participants were from Grades 2, 3 and 4. William Joshua Sim of Grade 3 Zinnia emerged as Champion. Other participants were Kyle Angelo Diciano of Grade 2 Ilang-ilang, Victoria Sophia Mendoza of Grade 3 Dahlia, Rose Mary Anne Peñaflor of Grade 3 Dahlia, James Benedict Tan of Grade 4 Iris and Gerard John Naceno of Grade 4 Magnolia.

Fiction Section In-charge Conducts Read and Share Activity

20160122152321In the pursuit of USL Libraries’ desire to enhance students’ reading habits, the Fiction Section In-charge, Ms. Maria Theresa C. Bautista conducted a “Read and Share Activity” on January 22, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the 3rd floor Discussion Room of the College Library. The activity specifically aimed at encouraging more students to value and develop the love of reading fiction books; improving students’ social skills in delivering their thoughts in a clear manner; and promoting awareness among students of the latest fiction collection that are available for leisure reading.

The activity started with the sharing of Ms. Charmaine C. Masuli, Acquisitions Librarian and Mrs. Danoleene Marie P. Tugade, Reference & Online-Resources In-charge who shared their chosen novels and morals.

Thereafter, the participants started to share their respective favorite fiction book to the group underlining the title, author, and genre of the book and the reason why the sharer chose it.

The activity was participated by 7 students and was concluded with awarding of certificates of participation to all the participants and giving of stabs for extension of days and number of titles for overnight as their incentive for joining the activity.
