IMG_7345New Year! New Collection! New Beginning! The University Libraries successfully launched on February 03, 2014, the Chinese Collection Area (CCA) and Academic OneFileAcademic OneFile is  the premier source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources with extensive coverage of the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects. Academic OneFile is both authoritative and comprehensive. With millions of articles available in both PDF and HTML full-text with no restrictions, researchers are able to find accurate information quickly and include full-text coverage of the New York Times back to 1995 and it is updated daily. The event was graced by University officials, faculty members, personnel, and students of the University.

The cutting of the ribbon was led by Rev. Fr. Rex Salvilla, Executive Assistant to the President and Dr. Emmanuel James Pattaguan, Vice President for Academics.  Materials in the Chinese Collection Area were donated by the Chinese Embassy. Indeed University Libraries continues to fulfill one of its major mission and that is to “Strive to meet Higher Education Institution’s Library standards”.

FYI: The Chinese Collection Area has a total of 62 titles in 149 volumes.

Chinese Collection Area Features: English-Chinese, Chinese-English Dictionary, Popular Chinese Expressions, What’s Cool in China, Chinese Myths and Legends, X-ray Examining the  Enigma, China on the Way, Pearl River: The Awakening of the East, Guide to Travel in Tibet, Concise Handbook: Chinese-English Edition, Panoramic China Collection and Chinese postcards, etc.

Current Updates: On March 25, 2014 the consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Laoag City visited the University Libraries and gave a token and set of books, digital video discs and compact discs about China.
