5th SONA of President Noy

IMG_0062On July 28, 2014 the University of Saint Louis College Library conducted live viewing of the State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III. The activity was commended by the Louisian community. Approximately there were fifty students participated in the activity conducted by the library. The students were very attentive during the speech of the President and jot down important details from his SONA.

Truly, the library does not only provide information through its library resources but it is also an avenue for Louisians to be updated with the current issues in our government and in our country as well.

The fifth SONA of the President highlighted the accomplishments of various departments of the government and the results of the President’s promises during the SONA 2013. SONA 2014 in general was on the different aspects of the nation - economy, jobs, asset reform, education, sports, government and ethics, health and environment, tourism, justice, urban poor, issues in Mindanao, foreign affairs and national security.

CHILDREN’S BOOK DAY CELEBRATION

SAM_2814To foster the love for reading and library, the USL Elementary Library conducted various activities in celebration of the National Children’s Book Day on July 15, 2014. Activities conducted include:  speed reading among Grades 4 to 6, book talks among Grades 1 to 3 and storytelling with preschool and kindergarten pupils. Storytelling was conducted among kindergarten Sampaguita and preschool Rose by Mrs. Venus I. Guyos, the Director of Libraries while   Mrs. Arlyn S. Cristobal, Elementary Library Head, did the same with the pupils of preschool Sunflower and kindergarten Sampaguita.  The activity was conducted at the Elementary Library.

USL Libraries Spearheaded Summer Book Fair 2014

DSC_2253The Libraries of University of Saint Louis, in its continued effort to strengthen its collection, held a two-day Book Fair on May 29-30, 2014 at the Second Floor, College Library. Sixteen (16) book publishers and vendors joined the event and exhibited their most recent books. A periodical provider and an e-book agent also participated in the activity, showcasing their resources.

 USL faculty members and students from Elementary to College selected materials from the exhibit. Areas of the Library Collection with few references were prioritized. An estimated 6.5 million pesos worth of materials was recommended for purchase.

 The second day of the Summer Book Fair was a dedicated to the conduct of a forum hosted by the PLAI-CaVRLC and University of Saint Louis Libraries. Among the speakers were Michael A. Pinto, PLAI President and USL Libraries Director, Mrs. Venus Ibarra-Guyos, Mr. David Cabonero, Mrs. Juliet Villanueva, and Mrs. Dolly Cayaban.
