Mr. Michael A. Pinto, the Director of Libraries of USL University Libraries was elected as the new Vice President of the Philippine Librarians Association Inc., Cagayan Valley Region Librarians Council last July 30, 2010. The term of office of the newly elected officers of PLAI-CaVRLC will be from 2010-2012. The election was held at Saint Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. The event started with a seminar on “Enriching the Culture of Collaboration among Educational Institutions and Their Libraries” as the first part. After the two day seminar, a general assembly of all licensed librarians in the region was held. Being the Vice President, he will automatically become a member of the House of Delegates of PLAI-national along with the President and the third member which will come from the three boards of directors of the regional council. Ms. Arlyn Selga, was also elected as one of the council’s NOMELEC which is in-charge of the election for the next set of officers. The newly elected officers were: President- David A. Cabonero of SMU, Bayombong, Vice President – Michael A. Pinto, USL DOL, Secretary- Fely Baliton of SMU, Treasurer – Dolores M. Ricardo of SMU, Board of Director: Febie Lanzuela of SMU, Eleazer Ramos of OLPI Cauayan, and Fe Gacayan of NVSU, Bayombong. The members of the NOMELEC were Evelyn Rizardo of SMU, Liza Tamargo of Patria Sable Corpuz College, Maria Ana Aquino of PLT College in Bambang Nueva Vizcaya, and Arlyn Selga, the Technical Head of USL University Libraries.
