University Libraries Joins the CICM Consortium

The University Libraries of USL together with the four libraries of its sister schools namely, Saint Louis University, Baguio City, Saint May’s University  in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya and Saint Louis College in City of San Fernando, La Union have successfully established the CICM Consortium. The purpose of which is to share library resources among the CICM HEI’s in Luzon specifically on online resources, initiate activities that will benefit the libraries such seminars, training and sharing of expertise among the different library staff and establish linkage program with other libraries locally and globally. It was established last April 15, 2011 during the first formal meeting of the four library heads of library namely Mr. Michael Pinto the Director of Libraries of USL, Dr. Rina H. Diaron, Director of Libraries of SLU, Mr. David Cabonero, the Director of Libraries of SMU and Mrs. Ligaya N. Caranay, the Chief Librarian of SLC-La Union held at the 2nd floor of the College Library of USL. The said CICM Consortium was formally acknowledge by the Provincial Committee on Education of the CICM here in the Philippines last May 24-26, 2011 during the PCE assembly at San Luis Del Mar in Bauang, La Union where the strategic plan of the consortium was crafted. At present, the consortium is on its way to establishing the Digital Archive of the CICM located in New Manila, Quezon City and to establish more links to other libraries locally and internationally. Furthermore, there will be activities to be undertaken by the group in the next days to come.
