On June 3, 2015 the University Libraries completed its set of Semestral Insets for SY 2014-2015. Topics covered in the inset were storytelling, and storytelling techniques and methods in preparation for the series of storytelling activities attached to the USL Book Mobile Project due for deployment in the Barangay Reading Centers of USL’s partner communities this SY 2015-2016. Among the speakers were Mrs. Juliet D. Villanueva (College Library Head), Mrs. Arlyn S. Cristobal (Elementary Library Head) and Mrs. Venus Guyos (Director of Libraries). Another part of the activity was the series of re-echo of the seminars/conferences attended by the University Libraries staff, particularly on:
USL-ELEMENTARY LIBRARY CONDUCTS BOOK DONATION
As part of the University Libraries’ commitment to uplift the condition of libraries in the Region, a book donation from the USL Elementary Library was conducted last April 30, 2015 to Brgy. Cataggaman Pardo Tuguegarao City for their barangay reading center to support the barangay officials’ initiative to put up a mini-library for children and out-of-school youth taking informal education through the Abot-Alam Program of the DepEd Region 02. Book donation was in cooperation with the Cagayan and Kalinga Apayao (CaAkAp) Librarians Association. 459 titles in 459 volumes of donated materials were received by Mrs. Luz Tabilisima, a councilor of the said barangay.
USL COLLEGE LIBRARY CONDUCTS ESSAY WRITING
In commemoration of the most awaited Commencement Exercises to end this school year 2014-2015, the College Library conducted Graduation Cap-Making with Essay Writing on March 16, 2015. The contest revolved around the theme: “Building Dreams through Libraries”.
The activity aimed to provide students an opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas about the relevance of the library in the completion of their education.
