CILP Among Research and Thesis Writing Classes

IMG_3678The College Library recently concluded the conduct of its newest program called College Information Literacy Program (CILP). This program targets the full involvement of Research and Thesis Writing classes in the training-workshop prepared by the CILP team. It was conducted on December 5 to December 15, 2015. The topics covered by the CILP were Intensive Online Resources Orientation (EBSCOHost, Academic OneFile, Philippine E-Journals, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, etc.) and Learning Assembly on Source Documentation and Citation. The said activity was well appreciated by the students and it was indeed a success!

USL College Libraries Forms Reading Buddies

C360_2016-01-06-09-53-14-220In pursuit of the University’s desire to enhance reading habit, the College Library instituted Reading Buddies on December 11, 2015 at the 3rd Floor College Library Discussion Room, where two skilled and fluent readers which have equal ability to read, shared their readings to each other, and later, both of them shared their reading to a bigger group consisting of 15 students.

Such activity aimed to encourage more students to value and develop the love of reading. The activity was spearheaded by the General Collection Librarian, Mr. Onofre C. Unciano Jr.

USL Libraries Launches Its 4thBook Mobile Project at Gadu Day Care Center, Solana

IMG_20151210_085014The USL Libraries has once again successfully launched its project called “Book Mobile” to one of its adopted barangays at Gadu Day Care Center, Solana, Cagayan last December 10, 2015. Said launching activity was spearheaded by Ms. Maria Theresa C. Bautista, Health Sciences In-charge.

The Launching Program commenced with an overview of the project by Dr. Juliet D. Villanueva, OIC-Director of Libraries for the Statement of Purpose and elaborated its objectives. Furthermore, she emphasized that this project would foster a culture for reading among children and that reading has the power to hone a child’s learning skills in preparation for a good foundation of academic excellence.

Thereafter, untying of ribbon was headed by Kagawad Romeo L. Gacias and Kagawad Elvis D. Batang assisted by the OIC-Director of Libraries and Health Sciences In-charge. Afetr which, Kagawad Gacias, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the USL group through a simple message.

The launching activity was successfully and joyfully participated in by preschoolers through the assistance of library staff and BLIS students as facilitators, storytellers and Nursery rhymes’ teachers. After the activity sessions, turn-over of documents and reading materials to the Day Care teacher, Mrs. Maribeth Tallud was done.

 The program was concluded by a short message given by the OIC-Director of Libraries by expressing her gratitude in behalf of USL family to preschoolers, parents, visitors, barangay officials and most especially to the Day Care Teacher, Mrs. Maribeth Tallud for the warm welcome and acceptance.
