As part of the Elementary Library’s promotional and marketing strategy and also to improve the usage of magazine subscriptions for pupils, Mrs. Arlyn S. Cristobal, the Elementary Library Head has conducted MagREAD: a Quiz Bee featuring chosen titles of magazines subscribed by the Elementary Library among Grades 1 to 6 pupils. There are 6 titles with 10 issues each featured such as: National Geographic Kids and National Geographic Little Kids (for Grades 1 and 2 category), Ranger Ricks and Discovery Box (for Grades 3 and 4 category), and Story Box and Adventure Box (for Grades 5 and 6 category). The activity was participated in by thirteen (13) Grades 1 and 2; eight (8) Grades 3 and 4; and eleven (11) Grades 5 and 6. Corinth Margaux S. Ebil (Grade 1 Daisy), Socrates Cruz (Grade 3 Zinnia) and Beatrice Malana (Grade 5 Cattleya) emerged as champions respectively.

The USL Elementary Library has conducted Bagong Libro Bagong Babasahin Bagong Kaalaman (3 B’s) Quiz Bee featuring this school year’s newly acquired materials done on March 21, 22 & 27, 2018 at the Elementary Library. The objectives of the activity were: 1) to market and promote the story book collection specifically the newly acquired materials; 2) to test the reading comprehension of pupils using the featured story books; and 3) to develop the love for reading and libraries at a young age. The activity was facilitated by Ms. Mary Angelique H. Baylon, Assistant to the Elementary Library Head and with the help of Vince Carlos Collado, YRC President. Thirty-five (35) pupils from Grade 1-6 participated in the said activity. The winners are Corinth Margaux Ebil of Grade 1 Daisy, Grazella Josein Sibal of Grade 4 Jasmine and Beatrice Malana of Grade 5 Cattleya.

The activity was evaluated by the participants generally as EXCELLENT.

The USL College Library has conducted Book Spine Poetry Contest on General Interest Collections on February 28, 2018 at 4:45PM held at the 3^rd Floor Discussion Room of the College Library. The activity had the following objectives: 1) to familiarize the students with the General Interest Collections existing in the College Library; and 2) to encourage students to read books of General Interest during their leisure time. The activity was facilitated by Ms. Maria Theresa C. Bautista, Health Sciences/Graduate School/General Interest Librarian. The said activity was participated by student-representatives of the different departments such as SHS, SEASH, SEAIDITE and SABH.
