ELEMENTARY LIBRARY CONDUCTS QUIZ BEE

blankThe USL Elementary Library in partnership with the Young Readers Club conducted Quiz Bee featuring fables, legends and stories with moral lesson last October 13 and November 11, 2016 at the Elementary Library. The objectives of the activity were: 1) to market and promote the story book collection of Lola Basyang, Hiyas Christian Values, Adarna House, and Lampara Books, 2.) to develop the love of reading and libraries at a young age; and 3.) to promote among pupils Philippine-based fables, legends and stories with moral values written by Filipino authors and published in the Philippines. The activity was facilitated by Ms. Mary Angelique H. Baylon, Assistant to the Elementary Library Head and Juan Carlos Pajarillo, YRC President. Fourteen (14) YRC members participated in the said activity. Beatrice Malana (Grade 4 Jasmine) emerged as champion for the Junior Category while Princess Ey-ann Montaño (Grade 6 Daffodil) was the champion for the Senior Category.

USL Libraries Launches Enriched Online Resources

On November 21-23, 2016, the University Libraries has facilitated the launching of the enriched online resource subscriptions of the University with the theme “Maximizing the Use of USL Libraries Online Resource Subscriptions Towards Excellence in Research”. The event is one for the books as it highlights the value that the University Libraries places on the importance of effective use of resources in the pursuit of research.

Mr. Joseph H. Valdez Jr. of CE-Logic was invited to talk about the various resources. The audiences included all departments in the College as well as Deans, Principals, Heads of Offices, University Research Center staff and librarians.

USL Re-Deployment of Book Mobile Program

The University of Saint Louis Libraries, after its successful implementation last S.Y. 2015-2016 of its Book Mobile Project has redeployed the same at the Provincial Child Development Center, Capitol Compound, Caggay, Tuguegarao City on July 14, 2016. The first redeployment was spearheaded by the Acquisitions Librarian, Ms. Charmaine C. Masuli.

Present in the activity were Mrs. Hilaria Aria, the PCDC Daycare Worker and PCDC Daycare volunteers. Other meaningful activities carried out for the PCDC pre-schoolers included storytelling fiesta, puppet show, nursery rhymes and dancing, facilitated by USL Library staff, Library Science faculty and students

Indeed, the said program was a success and the advocacy for reading was highlighted with the hope that this will be sustained.
